Lorenzo Musetti Is Knocking On The Door

Lorenzo Musetti

Lorenzo Musetti is a talented and enigmatic player. You saw his talent when he had Novak Djokovic against the ropes a few times. The enigmatic side of his game is that he can lose badly to some scrubs. I am always curious what is going on in his mind. What beliefs and thoughts keep him from fully embracing his tennis greatness.

The Italian Could Have Won Monte Carlo

Lorenzo Musetti won the first set against Carlos Alcaraz. All the momentum was on his side. Inexplicably, well not really (right thigh injury), he won only one game in the next two sets. Are we spoiled from watching players like Pete Sampras, Boris Becker, Ivan Lendl, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic? Let’s go back a bit further, Jimmy Connors and Yannick Noah. There was a passion for the game that is missing in the current crop of players and that may be the reason why they have such drastic swings in their on-court performance.

Musetti Gets Rewarded For Final Showing

Despite not winning the title, Lorenzo Musetti got a ranking boost from his performance. He is at a career high of number eleven and knocking on the top ten door. How will this enigmatic and talented player show up for the rest of the 2025 season? He does not even know. I am curious to see if he can keep building on this performance and have a career breakthrough in 2025.
