Jenson Brooksby Claims First ATP Title

Jenson Brooksby

Jenson Brooksby had been missing in action for two years due to a left wrist injury that required surgery in March 2023. Brooksby brought his “A” game to the Fayez Sarofim & Co. Championship. He took out the top two seeds, who were fellow Americans, on his way to the title. Brooksby won his first singles ATP title after about a two-year layoff by defeating Frances Tiafoe 6-4, 6-2 in the final. What is even more impressive, Brooksby had to get through the qualifying rounds to get to the main draw. He is currently ranked one hundred and seventy-two, up from five hundred and seven (507).

Jenson Brooksby Missing Almost Two Years

Jenson Brooksby last played in January 2023 at the Australian Open before he was sidelined by injury. He returned to professional tennis in January 2025, losing in the first round of the Australian Open to fellow American, Taylor Fritz. You may remember Brooksby, he has a funky style of play, a style that rattles his opponents. I will be keeping an eye on this guy because he was inspired by “the mentality and consistency of Rafael Nadal.” Keep in mind, Brooksby was on his way up before his injury and had gotten to a career high of thirty-three in June 2022. I am curious to see how high this young player will get.
