Amanda Anisimova Breaks Title Drought With Doha Title

Amanda Anisimova

Amanda Anisimova breaks through another three-year drought with some impressive play in Doha. She did the same thing after winning her first title in 2019, she went three years before winning her second title in 2022. Now that she has regained her footing and is at a career high, she must win her fourth title this year as well.

Tough Draw Did Not Faze Amanda Anisimova

Amanda Anisimova was not given an easy draw, as expected at the WTA 1000 tournament. In the first round she got by Victoria Azarenka in straight sets. The second round was top ten player, Paula Badosa. She crushed Leylah Fernandez in the third round. The America was tested in the fourth round by Marta Kostyuk and needed three sets to win that match. After that it was a walk in the park for the American. However, she sustained a left thigh injury, which has resulted in an early first round loss in Dubai to fellow American, Mccartney Kessler.
