Donna Vekic had to fight back after dropping the first set to Xiyu Wang (CHN). The Croat won 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. Nineteen-year-old American, Alex Michelsen, squandered a golden opportunity. Michelsen was up 2-0 sets against the veteran, Lloyd Harris (RSA), when his wheels came off. Harris won 3-6, 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-2, 7-6(9). Although a painful loss, hopefully the American will learn a valuable lesson.
