Coco Gauff is not playing her best tennis. She is struggling to find consistency. Since her title in Auckland at the beginning of the 2024 season, she has failed to live up to the expectations. The good news, if she can remember what she did in 2022, she can still probably make another run to the final at Roland Garros. Unfortunately, tennis can be quite unforgiving and a lack of confidence on clay will significantly impact her chances of winning the title there.
What’s Eating Coco Gauff?
After losing to Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals of the Australian Open, something happened to her confidence. It has been an uphill battle since for the American. There is a lack of rhythm and that is often a reflection of one’s confidence in their game. Although she started off well in Madrid with two pretty dominant performances, she just could not keep the momentum going against Madison Keys. Then again, Keys has got her number, winning the last two encounters against her. Can Gauff turn things around in Rome?
