Diana Shnaider plays tennis her way and there is power behind her every shot. At nineteen years old, if she can get fitter and stays healthy, she is a lethal force to be reckoned with. Despite the heavy taping of her right knee, Shnaider’s movement was not hampered. She got to a lot of balls, which seemed to rattle her opponent.
Second Final Appearance For Diana Shnaider
Diana Shnaider made her first WTA final last year at the Ningbo Open. She lost fairly easily to the number one seed, Ons Jabeur. This time, Shnaider would not be denied, she defeated the top three seeded players to claim her first title at the Thailand Open in Hua Hin. It was a dominant first set for the Russian teenager; however, she lost her focused to lose the second set.
Shnaider Regained Her Focus
The third set saw a return of the focused Shnaider. She was relentless, she pummeled the ball to all corners of the court and kept her opponent pinned in the back. The defending champion was frustrated and had no answers for the onslaught of power that came at her. In the end it was all Shnaider 6-3, 2-6, 6-1.
