Maria Timofeeva took advantage of her opportunity at the Australian Open. The twenty-year-old made it through the qualifying rounds to upset one seeded player (Beatriz Haddad Maia) and a former number one player (Caroline Wozniacki). Timofeeva made it to the fourth round before losing to Marta Kostyuk.
Maria Timofeeva Gets Mover Of The Week Honors
Kudos to Maria Timofeeva, the Russian player captured her first WTA singles title in Budapest (Hungarian Grand Prix) last year. Interestingly, she won that title as a qualifier. At twenty years old, she still has plenty of time to take it up several notches; however, she has proven she knows how to compete with the top players. Let us see what she does in 2024.

ATP & WTA Top 10 Ranking Changes
ATP: there were several changes in the top ten members. Taylor Fritz is back in the top ten at #9. Stefanos Tsitsipas fell three spots to #10. Holger Rune and Hubert Hurkacz each moved up one spot to #7 and #8, respectively. The top six members stayed the same. The current top four players are: [1] Novak Djokovic; [2] Carlos Alcaraz; [3] Daniil Medvedev; and [4] Jannik Sinner.
