Tough Loss For Coco Gauff
[7] Coco Gauff lost to American Sofia Kenin. Kenin won 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. This was probably not as shocking as it seems for two reasons: Kenin is a former top ten player, who knows how to win at the majors; Gauff has been off her game, and it is catching up with her results. I will not say I told you so, but I did tell my friend two weeks ago that Gauff’s game had become stagnant. John Isner lost routinely to Jaume Munar, which was a shocker. I know Isner is off his game, but losing to Jaume Munar on grass, yikes!

American Michael Mmoh, ranked one hundred and nineteen, did not make it through the qualifying rounds. However, he got a lucky loser entry into the main draw and took full advantage. Felix Auger-Aliassime continues to struggle to find his form and was not so lucky. Mmoh defeated the Canadian 7-6(4), 6-7(4), 7-6(4), 6-4.

Davis pushed her to three sets, but Pegula rallied to win 6-2, 6-7(8), 6-3. Nice to see Alycia Parks winning a match. The American defeated Anna-Lena Friedsam 6-4, 6-3.
Summarizing the results of Americans post day one, eleven women started the day and only three advanced to the second round. On the men’s side, five men started off the day and two advanced to round two.
Other Seeds That Lost On Day One
This was a surprise, [15] Liudmila Samsonova lost in two tiebreak sets to Ana Bogdan. Bogdan won 7-6(1), 7-6(4). [24] Yoshihito Nishioka lost his first round match, which was not surprising, as he has only made it to the second of Wimbledon once. Daniel Elahi Galan defeated Nishioka 6-4, 6-3, 6-3. [24] Qinwen Zheng lost 3-6, 5-7 to Katerina Siniakova. Siniakova is feeling confident after recently winning a grass court tournament on Saturday. [31] Mayar Sherif lost in three sets to Rebeka Masarova. The Spaniard won 7-5, 3-6, 7-6(6).
