Carlos Alcaraz got some revenge for his loss in the Roland Garros final. You cannot say it’s over after the first set when Alcaraz is healthy. He was determined to give the spectators a match. After quickly losing the first set 1-6, the Spaniard found his footing in the second and third sets.

Their first encounter was in 2022 on clay, and the young Spaniard won that three-set encounter. Djokovic would get revenge in the 2023 Roland Garros final when he defeated the Spaniard in four sets. I say that nerves were the undoing of the youngster. Thus, going into this final they were tied at 1:1. Everyone gave the odds to the Serbian because he was the four-time defending Wimbledon champion. Perhaps they forgot that the Spaniard is sixteen years younger and has the confidence of youth on his side. Is it fearlessness or is the Spaniard simply that confident in his game?

Novak Djokovic was not going to roll over and gift the championship to his younger opponent. The Serbian dug deep to even the match at two sets all. No doubt everyone felt the momentum had shifted to Djokovic’s side of the net, but Alcaraz proved that he wanted the title just as much as his opponent. It came down to one set and the player who played the best would walk away with the trophy.
Youth Prevails Over Age And Experience
Alcaraz proved that when he is healthy, he is better than the greats. He showed that when he backed up his break with four brilliant serves to consolidate the lead. Djokovic was so furious after he got broken in the third game, he broke his racquet and almost broke his hand. The Spaniard stepped up to serve for the match and many probably thought here is where he would crack. It seemed that way when he lost the first point with a poorly executed drop shot. Yet, he maintained his cool and elevated his game every time the Serbian drew even. Alcaraz served brilliantly to win 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 and he dethroned Djokovic to claim his first Wimbledon title. WELL DONE ALCARAZ!
