Peyton Stearns Among Day 4 Winners
Peyton Stearns upset former Roland Garros champion [17] Jelena Ostapenko. Stearns won 6-3, 1-6, 6-2. The twenty-one-year-old made her debut at the majors in 2022 and she is making a statement in 2023. [3] Jessica Pegula defeated Camila Giorgi 6-2. Giorgi retired with an injury after losing the first set. Sloane Stephens seems to have taken an interest in winning once again. She played quality tennis in her 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Varvara Gracheva. This is great news for her fans as she is a talented player, who knows how to play on clay.

[5] Caroline Garcia fell in three to Anna Blinkova 6-4, 3-6, 5-7. [15] Liudmila Samsonova lost 6-4, 5-7, 5-7 to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Yulia Putintseva defeated [19] Qinwen Zheng 6-3, 4-6, 6-2.
Disappointment Of The Day
In the battle between two Sebastians, American [24] Sebastian Korda came out on the losing end. Korda lost to the one-hundred and eighteenth ranked Ofner. This was a big disappointment as Korda has more game than demonstrated in this match. There is something missing from his game, I have no idea what is causing it, but he is not one hundred percent there. There are times when I feel that the public hypes a player up who is not all that, but I agree that Korda has the talent. However, it does not matter what the fans think, it only matters what young Korda believes.
Unfortunately, many players squander their youth only to regret it later in their tennis careers. One of the reasons I admire Rafael Nadal and Pete Sampras so much is that each player made a full commitment to the game. They committed to giving their best every time they stepped on court. Many in this younger generation take it for granted. They forget that playing tennis is what gives them fame. No one remembers you when your career is over if you did nothing with your talent.
QUESTION OF THE DAY: How far will Peyton Stearns go?
