Coco Gauff Challenged By Mirra Andreeva
[6] Coco Gauff was clearly nervous, and it showed in the first set. So nervous in fact, she forgot how to execute her shots. Yet, the American is a fighter and knew what she had to do. Once again, she had to problem solve in the match to get the three-set victory. Perhaps fatigue was the other opponent on the court as Mirra Andreeva completely wilted in the last two sets. Also, we forget that Coco Gauff is still a teenager herself. Gauff won 6-7(5), 6-1, 6-1.

Bernarda Pera defeated Elisabetta Cocciaretto in straight sets. Pera got a little revenge for her loss earlier this year in Hobart. Pera extended her lead to 3:1 with the 6-4, 7-6(2) victory.
Fallens Seeds On Day 7
[4] Elena Rybakina withdrew from the tournament giving the walkover victory to Sara Sorribes Tormo. Things were favoring Rybakina to walk away with another major title; however, neither she nor her team were expecting to be derailed by a viral illness. I pray that it is nothing too serious and she recovers promptly. Tomas Martin Etcheverry defeated [15] Borna Coric 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-2.
In the battle between two seeds, [14] Beatriz Haddad Maia maintained her dominance over [23] Ekaterina Alexandrova. The Brazilian won5-7, 6-4, 7-5. The last two seeded American men in the draw are gone, both [9] Taylor Fritz and [12] Frances Tiafoe lost their matches.
Emotional And Mental Energy Depleted
Players seem to forget that tennis is not just a physically demanding sport. Tennis also demands spiritual, emotional, and mental fortitude. As a player, I know that sometimes what keeps you going is your belief and your desire to win, even when your body is exhausted. Fritz expended a lot of energy in his win against the French player and today he could not mount the same energy against his Argentinian opponent.
QUESTION OF THE DAY: Will Coco Gauff get back to the final?
