Jan-Lennard Struff once ranked as high as number twenty-nine is still hanging in there. The thirty-two-year-old German turned professional in 2009. He has proved that there is more to tennis than a big serve. In 2021 he came close to getting the monkey off his back. Unfortunately for him, that was one of the few times that Nikoloz Basilashvili decided to show up. Struff pushed the second set to a tiebreaker but lost it in straight sets.
Struff Counting On Home Court Advantage Again
The German is back on home soil after a stellar performance in Monaco. He is probably looking at the draw and thinking “this may be my opportunity to win that first ATP singles title.” Time is running out for the big guy and opportunities get scarcer and scarer with each passing year. His first round opponent, Alexander Ritschard, is ranked two-hundred and nine; however, he should not think this is a sure victory.
