Katie Volynets has been on tour since 2017. I do not remember the first time I saw her play, but I do remember that I thought she had a cool last name. I do not recall if she had a good volley or not. Volynets defeated the number nine ranked player in the second round of the Australian Open; however, she lost in the next round to the twenty-second ranked player.
Katie Volynets Accomplishes Step One
At twenty-one, Katie Volynets still has time to grow. Thus, I am curious to see what she brings this year as the 2023 season unfolds. Many players use their breakthrough performance to get them going. While she did not go far in the draw, she got her first top ten victory, which is a big deal. It tells the young American that she can compete with the best.
