Curious Nick Kyrgios Wins 1st Title Since 2019

Curious Nick Kyrgios

Curious Nick, as I like to call him, set the tennis world on fire in 2014 when he defeated the number one ranked player, Rafael Nadal, at Wimbledon. This was one year after the Australian turned professional and Curious Nick was only nineteen. I thought, with his power on serve and off the ground, he was going to be a major threat. A threat not only to the then “big four,” but also to the rest of the field.

What Happened To Curious Nick Kyrgios?

Two things happened the Curious Nick: he struggled to process his emotions effectively; and injury. The thing about emotions, positive or negative, is that they can result in the same unhealthy and often self-destructive behaviors. A person elated can often respond the same way as when they are angry because intense emotions create the same psychological charge and hence will often elicit the same physiological response.

How Many Times Has Curious Nick Misbehaved?

Too many to count, but they all have one thing in common: his outbursts are his default way of coping with his emotions, good or bad. Unfortunately, when his emotions are negative, his outbursts tend to be more destructive. We know the guy has talent, if he can learn to respond to his emotions and feelings in healthier ways, he may actually play up to his potential consistently. Curious Nick Kyrgios won both singles and doubles titles at the Citi Open, showing us what he is capable of when he behaves.
