[22] Madison Keys needed to get past [16] Elena Rybakina if she wants to keep her hopes alive of getting to another French Open semifinals. In 2018, Keys surprised many when she made it to the semifinals of Roland Garros. Rybakina was an unknown force and things looked a little dicey for the American after she lost the first set; yet, Keys was impressive, she did not lose her cool. She came back with a vengeance and took it to her opponent to force a deciding set. As to be expected it was a battle as both players were determined to leave the court with the victory. However, it was not to be for Rybakina, who fell short in the third set super-tiebreaker. Madison Keys won 3-6, 6-1, 7-6(3) as usual using her power, but she also showed us a new level of maturity.
