It is one thing to know the talent is there. It is quite a thing of beauty to see it on full display. Carlos Alcaraz continues to impress us in the 2022 season. At eighteen years old, he becomes the first Spaniard to win the Miami Open.
Carlos Alcaraz Has Officially Arrived
He is the proud owner of a 250 [Umag], 500 [Rio], and 1000 [Miami] ATP singles titles. He has accomplished his goals for the year by the end of the first quarter of the season. Thus, it can only get better for the teenager. He is growing up fast before our eyes and by all appearances, he is coping quite well.

Coached by former number one ranked player [2003], Juan Carlos Ferrero, these two Spaniards are turning heads with their results. The question is not if he will break into the top ten, but rather how soon will he accomplish that goal. Can we see him in the top ten this season? Anything is possible; however, if he remains healthy, there is an incredibly good probability that he will join his countryman in the top ten. Remember at the age of eighteen, Rafael Nadal was in the top ten at number seven. Interesting tidbit, since gaining the top ten ranking in 2005, Nadal has remained consistently in the top ten.
Spanish Tennis In Good Hands With Alcaraz
As a huge fan of Spanish tennis players, it is great news to see that there will be someone to carry the Spanish torch on the men’s side once the king of clay retires. Though there will never be another Rafael Nadal, it’s nice to have Carlos Alcaraz with his unique brand of power and passion. Who can forget Arantxa Sanchez and Conchita Martinez? Looks like Paula Badosa will be carrying the torch on the women’s side. Spanish tennis is doing well. Not to ignore the other Spanish players, I simply chose to mention these two current stars that are grabbing a lot of the current spotlight.
