You can never count anyone out at a tennis tournament. After years of struggling to find her singles form, thirty-three-year-old Shuai Zhang found it in Lyon. More recognized these days as a doubles player, Zhang with various partners has won eleven doubles titles.  She has two major doubles titles to her name: 2021 US Open and 2019 Australian Open. Zhang won both majors with partner Samantha Stosur.

Shuai Zhang Gets Mover Of The Week Honors

About five years ago, Zhang won her second singles title in Guangzhou. Her first title in singles was also in Guangzhou in 2013. Thus, this title in Lyon is all the more special for Shuai Zhang. Hope she can keep this form throughout the rest of the 2022 season. She was once ranked as high as number twenty-three in 2016. Can she get back into the top twenty?

ATP: there were a few minor changes, Jannik Sinner is back in the top ten at #10; he displaces Hubert Hurkacz. The top four players are: [1] Daniil Medvedev; [2] Novak Djokovic; [3] Alexander Zverev; and [4] Rafael Nadal.

WTA: there were some reshufflings amongst the top ten members, but there were no new members. The top four members are: [1] Ashleigh Barty; [2] Barbora Krejcikova; [3] Aryna Sabalenka; and [4] Iga Swiatek.

[17] Reilly Opelka; [20] Taylor Fritz; [23] John Isner; and [30] Frances Tiafoe. The last American man to be in the top ten was John Isner in May 2019.
