Madison Keys Continues To Shine Down Under

Perhaps this is Keys’ tournament. Coming off her recent victory, Madison Keys is playing with confidence. She defeated Jaqueline Cristian 6-2, 7-5. Nice to see Amanda Anisimova continuing to win. The American upended [22] Belinda Bencic 6-2, 7-5. Anisimova also had a recent victory; thus, she is also riding a wave of confidence.

[23] Reilly Opelka got in done in three sets. However, Dominik Koepfer pushed him a little in the third. Opelka won 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(4). Sebastian Korda was pushed t five sets that almost took five hours. However, the young American prevailed over Corentin Moutet 3-6, 6-4, 6-7(2), 7-5, 7-6(6). Tough Losses For The Americans

No surprise that American Madison Brengle lost to [13] Naomi Osaka in straight sets. Osaka at eighty-percent is still a threat to most. [7] Matteo Berrettini dispatched another American. He defeated Stefan Kozlov 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. After winning the first set, American Mackenzie McDonald lost his way. He lost to [18] Aslan Karatsev 6-3, 2-6, 2-6, 3-6. Bernarda Pera lost to fellow American, [21] Jessica Pegula, 4-6, 4-6.

Tough luck for Alison Riske, who lost in three sets after winning the first set. [26] Jelena Ostapenko showed her fighting spirit with the 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory. Riske is certainly frustrated that she lost her way in the second. Although, she competed better in the third set, it was to no avail.

Not So Surprising Losses

I was a tad surprised that [10] Hubert Hurkacz lost to Adrian Mannarino. Surprised because he lost so easily 4-6, 2-6, 3-6. [32] Sara Sorribes Tormo lost to nineteen-year-old, Marta Kostyuk, 6-7(5), 3-6. This was not a surprise.
