While she did not win the title, Mayar Sherif made history last week. Sherif became the first Egyptian woman to make a WTA final. Unfortunately, the twenty-five year old ran into the red hot Andrea Petkovic. Still, she can walk away from this tournament feeling quite proud of her performance this past week.
Mayar Sherif Cracks Top 100
Where does Mayar Sherif go after this week? Now a member of the coveted top hundred, the Egyptian will look to take this form into her next tournament. With the US Open rapidly approaching, her ranking will give her direct entry into the last major of the 2021 season.

ATP & WTA Top 10 Players
ATP: The top ten members remained the same this week; however, Rafael Nadal and Stefanos Tsitsipas have traded places, with Nadal falling to #4 and Tsitsipas moving up to #3. Novak Djokovic remains at #1.
WTA: the top four players remained the same. Elina Svitolina, Karolina Pliskova, and Iga Swiatek each moved up one spot to #5, #6, and #7 respectively. Bianca Andreescu fell three spots to #8. There is a new addition to the top ten and that is Barbora Krejcikova, who comes in at #10 and Ashleigh Barty is still #1.
FYI: Serena Williams is currently ranked #20 and Venus Williams is ranked #112.
Top Ranked American Tennis Players
John Isner [30]; Reilly Opelka [32]; Taylor Fritz [40]; and Sebastian Korda [45]. The last American man to be in the top ten was John Isner in May 2019.
Sofia Kenin [4]; Jennifer Brady [14]; Serena Williams [20]; and Cori “Coco” Gauff [24].
