Two consecutive finals for nineteen year-old Brandon Nakashima and his reward is the honor of mover of the week. I did not know much about him until I saw him play the previous week when he got to his first ATP Tour final. I was a bit disappointed when he lost relatively easily to Cameron Norrie. However, I chalked that loss to first final nerves.
Isner Too Much For Nakashima
This past weekend, he had to get pass the big serving of fellow countryman, John Isner. Unfortunately, despite a better performance, Nakashima still came out on the losing end. Nevertheless, if he stays healthy and keeps putting in the work, he will eventually lift his first singles trophy.
More About Brandon Nakashima
Brandon Nakashima turned professional in 2019 and to get to back-to-back finals in two years is an awesome accomplishment. Thus, while he did not win the title, he and his team know that they are close and will take the positives from these tournaments and build on them. He now gets direct entry into all the majors and if he keeps playing well, most of the other tournaments as well. His weapons: serve and composure.
