Coco Gauff Is Still Going Strong
Two Americans played today. One was Coco Gauff, and she is back in the second week of Wimbledon. This time she seems much better prepared to handle the occasion. Today she defeated Kaja Juvan, a twenty-year-old from Slovenia. Gauff won 6-3, 6-3. Next up for Gauff is former Wimbledon champion, [25] Angelique Kerber. Kerber is riding high on confidence after her recent victory on grass earlier in June.
The other American, [31] Taylor Fritz, was not as fortunate against [4] Alexander Zverev. Still, what an effort for Fritz, less than a month post repair of a meniscal tear in his right knee. Fritz won the first set 7-6 (3) but could not keep the momentum going and Zverev won 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (4).

For American fans, one big story of the tournament is Coco Gauff; however, for the British people, one of their big stories is eighteen year old Emma Raducanu. Raducanu was born in Canada, but her family migrated to England when she was two years old.
Raducanu entered the tournament as a wildcard, and she is making good use of her opportunity. Interestingly, prior to stepping on the courts at Wimbledon, she had never won a tour level match. Now, she is into the second week of a major no less. It is somewhat poetic as her father is Romanian, and she defeated Romanian Sorana Cirstea 6-3, 7-5 to get to the fourth round.

- [16] Felix Auger-Aliassime was in all sorts of trouble against Nick Kyrgios. Kyrgios won the first set 6-2. Auger-Aliassime won the second set 6-1 and the match after Kyrgios retired with a questionable abdominal injury.
- [16] Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova’s run at Wimbledon came to an end. The Russian lost to [19] Karolina Muchova 5-7, 3-6.
