Sloane Among Day 5 Roland Garros Winners
Now we are beginning to weed out the men and women from the boys and girls. Tennis has begun in earnest at Roland Garros and some seeds are staking their claims.
[4] Sofia Kenin defeated fellow American [203] Hailey Baptiste 7-5, 6-3.
[5] Elina Svitolina defeated American [75] Ann Li 6-0, 6-4.
American [13] Jennifer Brady was pushed by [51] Fiona Ferro; however, she managed to eek out the 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 victory.
[18] Karolina Muchova easily dispatched American [171] Varvara Lepchenko 6-3, 6-4.
American [24] Cori Gauff, aka: Coco, moves on to the third round. It was a battle against [39] Qiang Wang. The seventeen year old continues to impress with her determination, her reward a 6-3, 7-6(1) defeat of her opponent.

Taylor Fritz Among Fallen Seeds On Day 5
[1] Ashleigh Barty lost due to injury, which caused her to retire. I do wish her a speedy and full recovery. [45] Magda Linette advances with the 6-1, 2-2 victory by retirement.
[9] Karolina Pliskova fell in straight sets to American [59] Sloane Stephens. Stephens seems to have rediscovered her love of the game. With the 7-5, 6-1, victory Stephens moved on the third round to face Muchova.

[28] Nikoloz Basilashvili suffered a surprisingly easy loss to [97] Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 2-6, 4-6.
[30] Taylor Fritz lost to [59] Dominik Koepfer. The American mounted a small resistance in the third set, but inconsistent play caused his downfall. Koepfer won 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
[32] Ekaterina Alexandrova fell to the red hot Czech, Barbora Krejcikova, 2-6, 3-6.
