[11] Roberto Bautista Agut fell 3-6, 6-3, 3-6, 2-6 to [150] Henri Laaksonen. Not as big a surprise as you may think as Bautista Agut prefers playing on hard courts.

Serena Among Americans Who Won
[7] Serena Williams got past [174] Mihaela Buzarnescu in three sets. Williams won 6-3, 5-7, 6-1. It should have been a straight-sets victory; however, don’t be fooled by Buzarnescu’s ranking. She was once ranked as high as number twenty-four.

Zverev Withstands The Russian Challenge
[6] Alexander Zverev was pushed today by [182] Roman Safiullin. I really don’t much about this young Russian; however, there seems to be a new crop of strong players coming out of Russia these days. He pushed the number six seed to two tiebreak sets. Zverev won7-6(4), 6-3, 7-6(1).
