Mover Of The Week: Sloane Stephens
What’s going on in Sloane Stephen’s head? I ask the question given the current status of her game. This is a player that was once ranked number three [2018]. She was a finalist at Roland Garros, and she is a US Open champion.
How do you reconcile her current results with her talent? As far as we know, there is no present physical injury. However, we know that we are mind, body, and soul. All three are intimately intertwined and what affects one, ultimately affects the other. When one is injured or hurt, that will also eventually hurt or injure the other two.
Is Sloane Stephens Still Interested In Tennis?
In the seven matches she has played in this season, Stephens lost in the first or second round six times. When you know a player has serious talent and is not injured, the cause of these poor results has to be either mental or spiritual. More troubling is her demeanor, she seems not to be enjoying tennis.
We know she can turn things around; however, the real question is: “Does she care enough to do so?”

Agree that the real question is whether she cares enough about tennis right now.
Perhaps a break from tennis would refuel her enthusiasm for the game.
