Tennis Rankings MOTW: Barbora Krejcikova
Krejcikova is no stranger to winning titles; however, they have all come on the doubles court. She was ranked a high as the number one doubles player in 2018. Over the years, many players have players used doubles as a way to improve their game prior to transitioning to singles.
We have also seen the opposite, some players transitioning out of singles into doubles to extend their careers in tennis. I enjoyed watching her play. What impressed me was her calmness; she never seemed rattled.
Garbine Muguruza Wins 8th Title
I was actually surprised that she lost the match. Yet, there was no stopping her opponent, Garbine Muguruza. The Spaniard was determined to claim the title. The drought since her last title was almost two years. A player of her caliber should not have such a long spell without a title, but Muguruza has always danced to the beat of her own drums. Sometimes leaving one to question her desire; thus, it was nice to see her fighting for the victory [2021 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Champion].

Top 10 ATP & WTA Ranking Changes
ATP: Novak Djokovic remains at #1. Daniil Medvedev has shaken up the rankings, taking the second spot away from Rafael Nadal. The top two spots have been held by members of the fabled four [Djokovic, Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray]. The last player to hold the number two spot outside of these four players was Lleyton Hewitt in 2005.

The top ten members are still the same though, but for how much longer, as the younger players are getting more comfortable with the spotlight. Who will eventually knock Djokovic off his perch?
WTA: Ashleigh Barty remains at #1. There were no changes in the positions or members of the top ten.
