John Millman has been toiling on tour since 2006 and at thirty years old he still has not won an ATP Tour singles or doubles title. He came close however, twice in recent years to be exact he was a finalist (2018 and 2019). Unfortunately for him, he has been plagued like so many athletes by injuries (right shoulder surgery in 2013 and groin surgery in 2017) that really took a toll on his game. It is never easy to come back after surgery and sometimes it takes a while to get your form back. Interestingly, Millman got to his singles career high late last season (#33).
This past weekend he had the misfortune of playing the number one ranked player on tour for the title in Tokyo and that did not go so well for the Australian. Yet, he is looking good and continues to be positive, which will serve him well. If he can stay healthy and keep this form going into the 2020 season, maybe he will finally win that elusive first title in 2020.
