If you have never heard of her, keep an eye on Elena Rybakina. The twenty-year-old Kazakhstani may just have announced her arrival in Bucharest. She never dropped a set the entire tournament and dismantled the home crowd favorite, Patricia Maria Tig, 6-2, 6-0 to claim the BRD Bucharest Open title as her first career singles title on the WTA Tour. Rybakina showed no evidence of nerves in her first final, protecting her serve nicely in the first set and being even more dominant in the second. She showed no mercy to her opponent, who had battled all tournament to get to the final. It was an impressive performance from Rybakina and now the real challenge begins, keeping this level up week in and week out.
