At 6’11” the twenty-one-year-old American proved that height is not an obstacle on the tennis court. Moving well despite his height, Opelka fought his way through the draw and the number one seed to get to his first ATP World Tour title. Winning that first title is never easy and Opelka showed his composure after he served for the match in the second set and failed to convert; showing no negativity, he went right back to work. Brayden Schnur made him earn the title and the American can shake the monkey off his back now. He is a champion on the ATP World Tour and that will boost his confidence tremendously going forward. Winning the New York Open title propelled the American to a career high of fifty-six and gave him the honors of mover of the week.
