AMERICAN MEN

[4] Bryan/Bryan (USA) defeated Mannarino/Mies 7-5, 4-6, 6-2.

[39] Frances Tiafoe defeated [37] Andreas Seppi (ITA) in five sets: 6-7(3), 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. With this victory, Tiafoe is into the fourth round for the first time at a major.

[50] Taylor Fritz lost to [3] Roger Federer (SUI) 2-6, 5-7, 2-6.

McDonald/Sandgren lost to Chardy/Martin (FRA) 4-6, 4-6.

The sole American male player left in the draw is none other than the twenty-year old Tiafoe. Next up for him is [20] Grigor Dimitrov (BUL). Dimitrov won their only previous encounter last year in three sets, two of which were tiebreak sets; however, the American won the second set 6-3. Can he get some revenge this match and keep alive his hopes of perhaps winning his first major?

[3] Caroline Wozniacki (DEN) lost to [30] Maria Sharapova (RUS) in three sets: 4-6, 6-4, 3-6. Wozniacki had a chance to win this in straight sets, she had the break in the first set; however, she could not hold on to the lead. She was the defending champion and her ranking will drop as a result of this early loss.

[10] Karen Khachanov (RUS) lost to [22] Roberto Bautista Agut (ESP) 4-6, 5-7, 4-6.

[14] Stefanos Tsitsipas (GRE) defeated [19] Nikoloz Basilashvili (GEO) 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(7), 6-4.

[18] Diego Schwartzman (ARG) lost to the returning Czech, [57] Tomas Berdych. Berdych dropped the first set and then came roaring back to win 5-7, 6-3, 7-5, 6-4. Next up is a familiar opponent, Rafael Nadal.
