SIGNIFICANT RANKING CHANGES FOR THE TOP 100 PLAYERS FOR THE WEEK OF 11.05.2018 (with a few special mentions).
It is only fitting that the two surprise finalists from the 2017 Rolex Paris Masters share the headline in this week’s rankings. Both players were unable to defend their points from their amazing run last season. Krajinovic lost in the first round to the eventual champion, Karen Khachanov. Sock’s miserable 2018 season in singles continues and he will end season outside the top hundred for the first time since March of 2014. Perhaps this will be what motivates the American in 2019. Krajinovic has the excuse of physical injuries, left foot and hand, in 2018 to explain his poor performance. No one seems to be able to explain clearly why Sock has had such a pitiful season in singles given his amazing talent. Yet, we go back to fact that being the best in your sport is not only about talent, the mental aspect plays a significant role in whether or not that talent bears fruit consistently.
