What did I do to make this person treat me with such disrespect? Sometimes, we have to remember, it’s not about us, it’s about the other person and they may be projecting their pain or hurt outwardly and it comes off as being disrespectful. Sure, there are people who are just mean, but even then, if you dig a little deeper, you will discover that they are hurting and angry.
Have you ever wondered why three people will walk abreast down a narrow sidewalk, leaving no room for others to pass and then get an attitude when you attempt to get by?
Why would a group of people congregate in front of the entrance or exit of a building or better yet, they will exit the elevator and stop right there to check their text messages?
How often have you wondered if people are inconsiderate or just simply too wrapped up in themselves to care about the consequences of their actions?
Do you often wonder why a driver would blow their horn when the light is red and there is nowhere for the driver in front of them to go?
Why do so many people fail to answer your questions in an e-mail or text; yet, respond with a thousand questions of their own?
Why is this person behaving so badly in public? Is it to get attention, even if it’s of the wrong kind?
Have you ever wondered what is the point, you try so hard to do the right thing and you are still not succeeding; while, everywhere you turn, there are people doing the wrong thing and succeeding? It may appear on the surface that they are succeeding, but until you walk a mile in their shoes, you do not know what hell they have gone through or are currently going through to achieve that success. In the end, it’s never about others, you do the right thing to honor God.
