SIGNIFICANT RANKING CHANGES FOR THE WEEK OF 04.02.2018
Victoria Azarenka is finding her form quickly. In her second tournament back since her extended layoff, the Belarusian made it all the way to the semifinals of the Miami Open before losing to the eventual champion. It’s also the second consecutive tournament that she has lost to Sloane Stephens. If it’s any consolation, this time she was able to win the first set; however, Stephens was on a mission. Yet, Azarenka is far from her top form; prior to this season, she had never lost to Stephens before in their three previous encounters. In fact, Stephens had never won a set until she did so in Indian Wells earlier this season. Expect the Belarusian to keep leaping up the rankings though because she is also on a mission, reclaim her top form and her top ranking.
