Allertova boosts her ranking with AO performance

Allertova

WEEK: 01.29.2018

Following the first major of the season there were lots of changes in the rankings of many players and quite a few achieved career high rankings due to their performance down under.

Denisa Allertova gets the mover of the week honors with her performance at the Australian Open. The Czech player, like many players, honed her game on the ITF circuit for many years and got to a career high of fifty-five in 2016. However, despite her big serve and forehand, she has struggled to find consistency on Tour and found herself toiling once again on the ITF circuit. The majors give players the opportunity to gain valuable ranking points if they can take advantage and that’s what she did at the Australian Open last year. This year she went one round farther. Perhaps this will be the impetus she needs to start doing better on the WTA Tour; she has the game but could probably benefit from improving her fitness and mobility.
