WEEK: 08.07.2017
The mover of the week honors goes to Ying-Ying Duan; sadly it was not due to an improvement in her ranking position. She was the defending champion at the JiangXi Open in Nanchang; however, she could not get past her first round opponent, Arina Rodionova, this year. It’s always exciting to win a title; however, it does not end there, the real challenge comes the next year when you have to defend the title and the points that came from winning. Unfortunately for Duan, she found that out this year. It will be difficult for her to gain points on the Tour if she does not get direct entry into the main draw of tournaments and has to go through the qualifying rounds. This is the reason some players chose to get ranking points by playing on the ITF circuit.
