WEEK: 04.10.2017
The mover of the week is Federico Delbonis; he lost points because he is the defending champion of the tournament in Marrakech and this year because of a later starting date, his championship points fell off, resulting in the decline in his ranking. He will play in the tournament in hopes of defending his title and regaining those valuable points to raise his ranking before the draw decision of the next Major, Roland Garros.
There is so much stress involved inherently in any sport; in tennis, the stress is multi-factorial and comes from the competitive nature of a game where for the most part it is single elimination. If that is not enough stress to keep you motivated, add the stress of knowing that you have to defend your points from the previous 52 week period to prevent your ranking from falling and you begin to understand the level of stress that tennis players deal with day in and day out.
ADDENDUM: Delbonis was unable to defend his title, he lost by injury retirement in the first round on 04.11.2017.
