WEEK: 08.15.2016
Ernests Gulbis gets the honors of mover of the week. Unfortunately it was not in a positive direction. He dropped 39 ranking spots and is in danger of falling out of the top 100. Injury has been a factor, but often with Gulbis it’s a matter of his commitment. When Gulbis is committed he can beat the best. It’s really frustrating to see a player with so much talent not living up to his potential consistently. A slew of early round losses have contributed to the decline in his ranking. Gulbis once ranked in the top 10 back in 2014 is struggling at the moment to string enough wins together to have a positive effect on his ranking. There is still enough time left in the season for Gulbis to turn things around. Can he avoid falling out of the top 100 at the end of the year?
