WEEK: 07.11.2016
Mover of the week is Maria Sharapova, who was a semifinalist at last year’s Wimbledon. She is currently off the Tour because of a two-year suspension due to testing positive for Meldonium (a PED); therefore, she was unable to defend those points and her ranking has dropped precipitously. Sharapova is set to appeal her suspension next week.

WTA Tour: Two new faces this week in the top 10. Carla Suarez Navarro is back at number 9. Svetlana Kuznetsova after a long time away, is back at number 10. The remaining members were shuffled a little; however, Serena Williams remains number 1.
SPECIAL MENTION: Samantha Crawford (USA) breaks into the top 100 at number 98.
OUR SPOTLIGHT PLAYER: Alexander Zverev has reached another new high of 27.
Wow!! What a let down!! She’s really dug a very deep hole for herself…one that it’s going to be difficult to climb out of. Going to be interesting to see what her appeal brings.
Now the appeal has been postponed to September, as both parties have many unresolved issues/questions. This should be interesting indeed. Many people still think the punishment was too harsh, I will remain in the minority in saying that is was appropriate.
