WEEK: 07.18.2016
Viktorija Golubic is the mover of the week with her stellar performance in Gstaad. Golubic won her first career WTA Tour singles title yesterday. She defeated the number three seed, Kiki Bertens, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the final to achieve that goal. En route to her first WTA Tour final, she also knocked out the number seven seed, Mona Barthel. Golubic is reaping the benefits of her hard work off court and her growing confidence. She had some tough match along the way and the final was by no means easy; however, she fought off the opponents and maintained her belief that she could win each match. Bertens was somewhat hampered by the recurring issue with her left calf, but she fought hard as well and Golubic had to beat her to win the title. Congratulations to Golubic on winning her first career single title.
