Historic Week Of Firsts For Buyukakcay

WEEK:  04.25.2016

Cagla Buyukakcay could celebrate for the rest of the season and no one will blame her.  Not only did she win her first career WTA title, she became the first Turkish woman to do so and did it at her hometown tournament, TEB BNP Istanbul Cup.  This victory also propelled her into the top 100 for the first time in her career.  The honor of having a packed crowd watching and cheering her on, gave her lagging energy a much needed boost.  Buyukakcay used the energy from the crowd to get going in the second set and by the third set she was playing on pure adrenaline.  It was a hard fought battle against an opponent who had recently defeated her.  This victory will live on in tennis history and Buyukakcay’s memory forever.
