Williams had little resistance from Cepelova, winning easily 6-1, 6-0. Although there were a few points that were highly competitive and engaging, Williams did not allow Cepelova to disrupt her rhythm or derail her from her goal.

Williams served well, although there were a few double faults. There will always be a big discrepancy in pace between her first and second serves; however, Williams was confident and was not troubled the entire match, even with break points against serve. She moved well and the long lay-off seems not to have affected her physical fitness. This match was exactly what Williams needed to assess her progress as she works to regain her form.
