Everyone is honing their skills in preparation for the last major tournament of the year.
Many will be waiting with bated breath to see if Rafa will play.
It should be a great tournament as everyone is pondering who will win the last major trophy for 2014. Will one of the top four on the men’s side take home the coveted trophy or will one of the new up and coming young players take home the honors?
On the women’s side, it is also a case for curiosity. The top ranked player has underperformed at the majors to date. Serena, as well as many of her fans, are hoping that she can turn her year around at the US Open. The number two ranked player, Li Na, has withdrawn from the tournament. More than likely by the time the US Open draw comes out, she will no longer be the number two ranked player. The up and coming young players on the women’s side have been impressive this year, so it will certainly be interesting to see who takes home the trophy.
As much as Serena’s fans may want her to be the one, recent history has shown her to be incapable of rising to the challenge of the majors. However, Serena is also capable of proving us all wrong.
