She believed and could be a force to be reckoned with.  Cici, as she is known, put everything she had into the match against veteran player [CR13] Dominika Cibulkova (SVK).  The shots were there, along with the confidence and it certainly did not hurt having the home crowd cheering her on.

Cibulkova had opportunities to win the match and she showed her fighting spirit by going up a break in the third. She was determined not to lose early at another tournament; however, she could not hold on to the lead. She had no response for the well placed shots and the unexpected power of the 15-year-old Bellis.

The enthusiasm and fearlessness of youth was on full display today as [CR1208] Catherine Bellis (USA) upset Cibulkova 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
